Atlanta History Center is proud to announce our acceptance into the Bloomberg Philanthropies Digital Accelerator Program. Recognizing that digital adaptation is critical for the non-profit cultural sector to remain competitive and fulfill its full potential, the Digital Accelerator Program will provide $43 million to help arts organizations invest in strategic improvements to their technology infrastructure. This includes tools to enhance core operations, such as integrated marketing and fundraising systems, as well as bold projects with the potential to benefit the broader cultural sector.
Acceptance into this program will allow us to consolidate our library, archives, and museum collections databases into a single, federated search experience available on our website.
Non-profit cultural organizations like Atlanta History Center will rely heavily on digital offerings to continue delivering their mission in the 21st century. With the aid of the Digital Accelerator Program, we will gain new opportunities to build audiences that engage with our archives and collections, share additional free historical resources and information to the public, increase fundraising opportunities to continue digitizing more of our collections to add to this robust new search tool, and continue to deliver dynamic programming virtually and in-person—including extensive educational programs for all ages, podcasts, and videos.
The project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023. Special thanks to Bloomberg Philanthropies for their generous support of this initiative.
