The podcast explores how a combination of popular myth and generations of displacement contributed to the attempted erasure of an entire Black community.

Rose Scott
Rose Scott is an award-winning journalist and host of the midday news program "Closer Look" on Atlanta's NPR station 90.1 FM. She leads the "Closer Look" team in presenting discussions centered on affordable housing, domestic violence, HIV/AIDs, immigration, and criminal justice reform. In her more than two decades of reporting in Atlanta, Rose has covered education, minority health issues, gender issues, sports, and more.
Well-respected in the Atlanta community for her thought-provoking reporting style, Rose has been honored with several wards including a Southeast Regional Emmy Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, Atlanta Association of Black Journalists Award, and numerous Georgia Association of Broadcaster awards. She has also received awards from the Georgia Associated Press.

Sophia Dodd
Sophia Dodd is the Digital Storytelling Production Research Manager at Atlanta History Center, where she helps bring stories of Atlanta and Georgia to life through thoughtful research and content production. She previously worked as a research assistant for the award-winning documentary, Monument: The Untold Story of Stone Mountain.
As a native of Forsyth County and graduate of the University of Georgia, she has always been driven by a desire to explore Southern history and memory while shining a light on undertold stories. In 1912: The Forsyth County Expulsion and Its Aftermath, Sophia uses her research and writing skills to take listeners on a deep dive into a personal story which changed the landscape of North Georgia forever.
