If I Were a Kid in History
June 2-6, 2025
Ever wonder what life was like for kids just like you in ancient Egypt, medieval castles, or even early America? Step into a time machine and join us for an adventure through history! We’ll dive into how kids played, dressed, and lived in different cultures and ages. Get ready to make new friends, try exciting games from history, and see the world through the perspective of kids from the past. Grab your curiosity, and let’s play, create, and explore history together!
Camp Highlights
- Discover a day in the life of children throughout different time periods such as ancient Egypt, medieval Europe, and modern times.
- Explore what kids wore, how they traveled, the foods they ate, and the games they played.
- Discover favorite forms of entertainment from children of the past.

Oh, the Places We’ll Play
June 9-13, 2025
Grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, and sun hats as we explore the great outdoors and discover the places we play! Through fun, hands-on activities, we’ll venture outside, explore the beauty of our Earth, and connect with what makes it special. By the end of the week, you’ll be a certified nature scout!
Camp Highlights
- Explore why planting is important and how anyone can grow something in a garden or even in their own backyard.
- Connect with the world around us through our national parks and “become” a park ranger to gain a better understanding of how to protect and preserve these areas.
- Discover the world of park planning and design a park of your own!

June 16-20, 2025
Come one, come all, to discover the greatest inventions of all time! We’ll get our wheels spinning as we explore gadgets from the past to inspire new ideas today. As we create and innovate, we’ll learn about the history of technology and how it has changed and influenced our world. This World’s Fair will showcase the amazing inventions we create that will impact the future!
Camp Highlights:
- Engage with inventors by uncovering their influences, technological improvements, and impacts.
- Conduct experiments that are inspired by real inventions.
- Participate in a World’s Fair as we share our very own inventions and learn about the processes of how inventions come to be!

Get ready to be historians as we explore the amazing lives of people who changed our world! We’ll dive into the stories of trailblazers in sports, art, and community heroes that you might not have heard of before. Each day will be an adventure filled with storytelling, exciting investigations, and treasure hunts through history. Join us as we shine a light on the past, discover the present, and imagine the future together!
Camp Highlights:- Become a history detective to uncover the stories of voices that aren’t often heard in and around the city of Atlanta.
- Be inspired by stories of changemakers to learn how you can create impacts in your communities.

More Than a Sidekick: Unleashing Character Potential

Are you ready to bring your imagination to life? From classic stories to exciting Role-Playing Games, characters have always captured our hearts! But how do we turn an idea into a real character? Join us for an epic adventure where we’ll dive into character creation! We’ll try out different ways to think about our favorite characters, experiment with our own ideas, and build amazing characters from the ground up. The Sci-Fi Writer’s Guide to the Galaxy

Achievement Unlocked: Writing for Video Games
June 23-27, 2025
There’s more to video games than combos and boss battles! Without a well-written story, even the most fun gameplay will be forgotten. But writing the story for video games requires creativity on a totally different level. Join us as we examine the evolution of video games and the stories they tell, from classics like “Super Mario” to modern titles like “Legend of Zelda.” We’ll even create our own video game stories along the way!Camp Highlights:
- Examine how the evolution of video game technology encouraged new writing styles.
- Determine how game style and writing style complement each other.
- Compare writing techniques from major studios.
- Create the basic story beats of your video game.

Summer Camp Week 3 (June 16-20)
There will be no camp on Thursday, June 19, 2025. All camps for this week have been discounted to reflect the Juneteenth federal holiday.

Please register your camper for the grade level they will have completed by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
History Camps are divided into two age groups: K-2nd graders and 3rd-5th graders.
Writing Camps are for students in 6th-8th grade.
Monday–Friday, 9am–3:45pm
Drop-off: 8:45am-9:00am
Pick-up: 3:45pm- 4:00pm
Before-Care
Starts at 8–9am for an additional $25 per week.
After-Care
Starts at 4–5pm for an additional $25 per week.
Parents/guardian must sign their camper in and out every day. If someone other than the camper’s parent or legal guardian picks them up, prior written notice is required.
Pick-up begins at 3:45pm. You must pick your camper up by 4pm.
Camper(s) picked up after their designated time, parents/guardians will be charge $1 per minute, and late pick-up payment must be paid upon arrival.
Campers are required to bring a lunch with them each day. Due to the prevalence of nut allergies, our summer camp is nut free. Please refrain from packing items with peanuts or tree nuts in your child’s lunch.
Please have your camper bring extra snacks and a bottle of water labeled for these snack break sessions.
Any cancellation on or before Friday, May 23, 2025, will require a $175 fee per camp.
No refunds can be made for cancellations after Friday, May 23, 2025.
Camp changes/modifications require an administrative fee of $50.
If minimum enrollment is not met, we reserve the right to cancel a camp session, notify families and issue a full refund.
We continue to monitor COVID reports, CDC recommendations, and local regulations, and we reserve the right to cancel camp with advance notice, if necessary.
To keep guests and campers safe, camp sessions will include the following safety protocols:
Face Coverings
Although masks are not required, we strongly encourage participants to wear them based on their individual comfort levels.
Frequent Hand-Washing Breaks
In addition to hand-washing after each activity and bathroom break, parents must provide campers with a personal hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer stations will also be available throughout the campus.
Limited Capacity
Camp sessions will have a maximum of 15 campers with one instructor per camp.
Regular Cleanings
Areas of heavy contact (tables, doorknobs, supplies, chairs, etc.) will be disinfected frequently throughout the day.
Health Monitoring
If a child has been in contact with anyone who is presumed positive or has tested positive for COVID-19, parents must inform Atlanta History Center immediately, and the camper will not be permitted to attend camp. If any child expresses or exhibits symptoms of illness, they will be immediately isolated and parents will be contacted for pick-up.
Under Georgia law, there is no liability for an injury or death of an individual entering these premises if such and injury or death results from the inherent risks of contracting COVID-19. You are assuming this risk by entering these premises.
